From Dubai & Ajman to Global Airwaves — And Home to RAK
At the heart of RAK Radio is Steve Johnston, a broadcaster whose voice and leadership have shaped UAE and international airwaves for more than two and a half decades.
Steve’s journey with UAE radio began back in 1997 as a co-founder and on-air presenter at Channel 4FM in Ajman. Over the following decade, he served as Program Director and prime presenter across Emirates Radio 1 & 2 and Gulf News Radio 1 & 2 in Dubai, building multicultural teams and beloved programming that united listeners across the Emirates.
His international career spans leading national broadcaster operations at FIBS in the Falkland Islands, producing global broadcasts for BFBS Worldwide, and co-founding Thailand’s leading international network, Chili Radio Group, in 2017.
Since January 2024, Steve has poured his lifelong broadcast expertise into Ras Al Khaimah as Co-Owner of RAK Radio. Each weekday morning from 7am to 10am, he lights up the Northern Emirates on Ras 'N' Shine, delivering great music, upbeat conversation, and the true sound of the UAE.
